Overview

Recorded, mixed and mastered Oak Hill Drifters for Melrose In the Mix, a local public-television program presented by WUCF. The band was professional and collaborative, offering ideas while trusting my audio-engineering decisions. That made room for a particularly focused session and a result I regarded as the benchmark for that season.

Problem or opportunity

Deliver strong session audio while coordinating with the video crew to make the performance engaging on camera—not simply document it.

What I did

  • Prepared for the session and worked with the band on the audio approach
  • Recorded, mixed and mastered the performance
  • Coordinated with the video team ahead of the session to plan more dynamic shots
  • Worked with the video team on the session-audio handoff

Process

  • Collaborated with the video crew before recording to identify opportunities for more dynamic coverage
  • Recorded the band while maintaining a smooth, artist-centered session
  • Mixed and mastered the performance and coordinated delivery of audio to the video team

Deliverables

  • Recorded, mixed and mastered session audio
  • Audio handoff for video post-production

Results

The finished performance became my personal benchmark for that season. The video includes moments of lively interaction between the singer and the camera. Later in the program's final season, our team also took on interview-audio processing.
